Be Cyber Smart: National Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2020

October 1st marks the beginning of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM)! Every year, our team promotes this vital initiative to spread awareness about the importance of protecting your company’s online devices.

The National Cyber Security Alliance & the U.S. Department of Homeland Security launched NCAM seventeen years ago in order to ensure “that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.” Each year, these agencies choose a specific theme to focus on in their discussions, shared assets and tips. This year’s theme is:

“Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.”

According to organizers of NCSAM, this theme asks companies to actively further their cybersecurity education in order to learn more about online threats and proactive steps to avoid cyber disasters.

“The majority of data breaches are attributed to employee misjudgment,” says Switchfast CEO Jim Anderson. “To avoid potentially devastating attacks, it’s imperative that your employees are well-versed in the first signs of cyber threats.”

This month, Switchfast will be sharing our top tips on securing your devices across our Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts. In addition, be sure to watch for additional blog posts detailing our favorite resources for continuing your cybersecurity education.

To kick the month off right, check out some of our past pieces that focus on these topics:

If you’re looking for additional ways to get involved with NCSAM, here’s where to get started!
